Something About Snow

There is something about the snow.
Something about that makes you feel balance. Thats weird you may say. When i think snow i think of cars getting stuck in ditches and I think of slipping on ice and frost bite and cold hands and cold! But the counterpart is that feeling. That December buzz, appreciating your warm hearth and that going out and sucking in the freshest of air. That snow capp that covers everything and introduces a new slate. Yes. That beautiful feeling one gets when your inside and you look out at the snow falling while holding a cup of cocoa. Even if it cold inside it beats outside and you bundle up and you eat all your comfort foods. Our fluffy white friend makes everything brighter in the sun. Accessorizing with scarves and hats and mittens.
Yea.,there is something about the snow.
Yes it has its bad,worse,cold,dreary....but if you look out that window and think about it then thats all you will see. If you think winter wonderland, beautiful, cozy and 'new' then thats what you will see. So stop snow hating! This year love your colder weather or learn to at least get along with it.

Cozy Up With Hot Cocoa.

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/3 cup boiling water
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half cream

Combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't scorch. Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla. Divide between 4 mugs. Add the cream to the mugs of cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.

Stay Crafty,
